Baron de Ley Semi Dulce

A semi-dry white wine from Rioja that elegantly combines freshness and subtle sweetness — not a heavy dessert wine, but an approachable companion for many occasions.

Baron de Ley is one of the most renowned wineries in Rioja. Founded in 1985 in a restored 16th-century monastery near Mendavia, the winery focuses on classic methods: controlled vineyard management, its own cellar, and a broad range of styles from dry to off-dry.

In the glass, the Semi Dulce displays a clear golden yellow. The nose is dominated by passion fruit with a hint of mint and a soft undertone of honey. On the palate, the residual sweetness is lingering without being cloying; the acidity maintains the balance, and the finish remains fresh with a delicate plum note.

Serving temperature: 8–10 °C . Pairs well with spicy dishes with fruit sauce, Asian cuisine with coconut milk or ginger, light blue cheeses, or as an aperitif with olive snacks. Also enjoyable as a casual summer evening wine on its own.

Baron de Ley

Barón de Ley was founded in 1985 with a clear ambition: to establish a bodega in the DOCa Rioja modeled after the great Médoc châteaux—consistently focused on its own grapes and extended aging. The winery is located in Mendavia, in the Navarrese part of Rioja, in a restored 16th-century Benedictine monastery. Here, only Reserva and Gran Reserva wines are produced—no Jóvenes, no Crianzas, only wines that have been given time. The name says it all: "de ley" means something like "genuine" and "righteous" in Spanish—and that is precisely the standard reflected in every bottle.
