Baron de Ley Reserva 0.5L

A classic Rioja Reserva in a handy half-bottle format — ideal if you want a great wine in a smaller quantity without sacrificing depth. The Baron de Ley Reserva consists of 100% Tempranillo and brings everything the region is known for: dark fruit, spice, and the characteristic melt of American oak.

Baron de Ley is one of the most consistent addresses in the Rioja. The winery vinifies exclusively from its own vineyards and, for the Reserva, relies on 20 months of aging in new American oak barrels, followed by two more years of bottle aging — before the wine even hits the market. This concept of patience is reflected in the glass.

On the nose, blackberry and plum, underpinned by vanilla, a hint of licorice, and subtle cinnamon spice. On the palate, soft and round, with well-integrated tannins and a long, slightly sweet finish. Three renowned tastings — including James Suckling and Decanter — awarded the 2015 vintage 91 and 92 points respectively.

Pairs with leg of lamb, chorizo tapas, or aged Manchego. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. The 0.5-liter bottle is well-suited for a dinner for two or as an accompaniment to a cheese board.

An excellent wine, which comes in handy 0.5

An excellent wine, which comes in handy 0.5 bottles. Just the thing for a cozy evening on the balcony or in front of the TV. Nothing to complain about the delivery as always.

Baron de Ley

Barón de Ley was founded in 1985 with a clear ambition: to establish a bodega in the DOCa Rioja modeled after the great Médoc châteaux—consistently focused on its own grapes and extended aging. The winery is located in Mendavia, in the Navarrese part of Rioja, in a restored 16th-century Benedictine monastery. Here, only Reserva and Gran Reserva wines are produced—no Jóvenes, no Crianzas, only wines that have been given time. The name says it all: "de ley" means something like "genuine" and "righteous" in Spanish—and that is precisely the standard reflected in every bottle.
