Reserva Magnum

Reserva Magnum
A classic Rioja Reserva in magnum format — more volume means slower aging and thus more depth in the glass.
Baron de Ley is one of the most famous wineries in Rioja. The estate is located on the banks of the Ebro in Rioja Baja; the estate building is a former 16th-century Benedictine monastery. The Reserva is the house classic: Tempranillo-dominated, aged according to the strict Rioja Reserva rules.
This wine matures for 20 months in American oak barrels, followed by at least two years in the bottle. American oak gives the Tempranillo its characteristic profile: aromas of blackberry and plum, plus vanilla, coconut, and a hint of tobacco. In the mouth, medium to full body, velvety tannins, warm finish with a spicy note.
The magnum format is suitable for dinner parties — served at 16–18 °C with leg of lamb with a herb crust, Ibérico meat, or mature Manchego.

Barón de Ley was founded in 1985 with a clear ambition: to establish a bodega in the DOCa Rioja modeled after the great Médoc châteaux—consistently focused on its own grapes and extended aging. The winery is located in Mendavia, in the Navarrese part of Rioja, in a restored 16th-century Benedictine monastery. Here, only Reserva and Gran Reserva wines are produced—no Jóvenes, no Crianzas, only wines that have been given time. The name says it all: "de ley" means something like "genuine" and "righteous" in Spanish—and that is precisely the standard reflected in every bottle.
