Weissburgunder Magnum

A Pinot Blanc that needs no grand gesture: cool, precise, with a long finish that lingers for a while. The magnum bottle gives it time – and it uses it.

The Klumpp winery is located in Bruchsal, on the northern edge of the Kaiserstuhl hills, in the heart of Baden's wine region. The family has been working with the region's terroir for generations – loess loam and limestone characterize the wines, including this Pinot Blanc with its distinctive minerality.

On the nose, ripe pear, a hint of herbal spice, cool and clear. On the palate, it is taut: firm backbone, yet never angular. The fruit remains restrained – pear with mineral intensity, a slight creaminess in the mid-palate. The finish is long, dry, with a fresh note that keeps it lively despite its ripeness.

  • Dishes: Pike-perch fillet with beurre blanc, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, mature mountain cheese
  • Temperature: 10–12 °C
  • Occasion: Table format for four to six people – the magnum bottle matures more slowly and evenly than the 0.75-liter bottle

Klumpp

The Klumpp winery in Bruchsal is one of Baden's leading estates. Founded in 1983 by Ulrich and Marietta Klumpp, newcomers to the wine industry, they converted the business to organic viticulture as early as 1996 – pioneers of the organic movement in Germany. Today, the brothers Markus and Andreas Klumpp run the estate in its second generation. The vineyards stretch around Bruchsal in the Rothenberg and Weiherberg sites. The soil: a mosaic of shell limestone, Keuper marl, loess, and clay marl – ideal for characterful wines with a fine minerality. Known especially for its Pinot Noir, Klumpp regularly receives top ratings from Gault-Millau, Eichelmann, and Falstaff. Tradition meets modernity – wines full of clarity and authenticity.
