Unteröwisheimer Kirchberg Chardonnay QbA dry
A Chardonnay from Kraichgau that doesn't hide its wooden barrel – and rightly so: roasted aromas, smoke and butter form the framework, behind which comes ripe apricot and a hint of quince.
Weingut Klumpp from Bruchsal-Heidelsheim cultivates vineyards in the Kraichgau region, including the Unteröwisheimer Kirchberg – a location with the warmth of the northern Kraichgau hills, which produces Chardonnay with maturity and substance.
In the glass, this is a full-bodied, dense white wine with a creamy texture and broad structure. Toasty and smoky notes dominate the nose, complemented by apricot and quince. On the palate, it is juicy and rich in extract, with a hint of fruit sweetness and fine balance. The finish is long, and the tannins – unusually noticeable for a white wine – are velvety and well-integrated.
