Wawerner Herrenberger Riesling Kabinett

Wawerner Herrenberger Riesling Kabinett
A classic Mosel Kabinett from one of the best Saar sites – light, precise, and with that typical tension between residual sweetness and acidity that makes Riesling from the Saar unmistakable.
Von Othegraven has been cultivating the Wawerner Herrenberg for generations. The steep slopes above the Saar with their Devonian slate provide grapes with distinct minerality and cool fruit – prerequisites that make Kabinett wines of this quality possible in the first place.
In the glass, it shows light peach, white blossoms, and a hint of flint. The acidity is lively but never harsh – it keeps the fine residual sweetness in balance and extends into the long, salty finish. Light body, lots of finesse.
Best served at 8–10 °C. Pairs well with Asian cuisine with chili and ginger, smoked salmon, or a classic pan-fried Riesling fish. Also a safe choice on its own as a companion for a summer evening.

Maximilian von Othegraven – a winery steeped in history. Founded in the early 16th century, it enjoys a romantic location on the banks of the Saar River, opposite the village of Kanzem, surrounded by a park with rare trees. Family-owned since 1805, the estate was taken over by Günther Jauch and Dorothea Sihler-Jauch from their great-aunt in 2010. With an uncompromising commitment to quality, they have elevated it to the top ranks of German Riesling producers. Right outside the door: the south-facing Kanzemer Altenberg vineyard – one of Germany's greatest Grand Crus. Mineral intensity, delicate fruit spice, vineyard peach, ripe apples. Floral, balanced, magnificent.
