von Othegraven

Maximilian von Othegraven – a winery steeped in history. Founded in the early 16th century, it enjoys a romantic location on the banks of the Saar River, opposite the village of Kanzem, surrounded by a park with rare trees. Family-owned since 1805, the estate was taken over by Günther Jauch and Dorothea Sihler-Jauch from their great-aunt in 2010. With an uncompromising commitment to quality, they have elevated it to the top ranks of German Riesling producers. Right outside the door: the south-facing Kanzemer Altenberg vineyard – one of Germany's greatest Grand Crus. Mineral intensity, delicate fruit spice, vineyard peach, ripe apples. Floral, balanced, magnificent.

Slate soil and family history —
von Othegraven winery on the Saar

The von Othegraven family has been cultivating their vineyards on the Saar since 1805. The Kanzemer Altenberg, a south-facing Grand Cru directly in front of the estate house, defines the style: dense minerality, vineyard peach, ripe apples and a delicately spicy texture that makes Saar Riesling unmistakable.
