von Othegraven "MAX" Riesling Qualitätswein trocken

The “MAX” is Othegraven’s entry-level Riesling – uncomplicated, easy to drink and yet with the typical Saar signature: clear fruit, lively acidity, mineral character.

The von Othegraven winery in Kanzem is one of the most prestigious addresses on the Saar. Since Karin ColleBacon joined the business in 2010, the focus has been consistently on quality – from the steep-slope Grands Crus to the more approachable "MAX", which serves as an entry point into the portfolio and showcases the grape variety directly.

In the glass, a pale straw yellow. The nose opens with aromas of preserved stone fruit – peach, ripe apricot – complemented by herbal spice and subtle mineral notes. On the palate, elegant stone fruit, a hint of melon, delicate vegetal spice, and a touch of licorice on the finish. The acidity is present and gives the wine vibrancy without being intrusive. Medium-long, minerally fresh finish.

von Othegraven

Maximilian von Othegraven – a winery steeped in history. Founded in the early 16th century, it enjoys a romantic location on the banks of the Saar River, opposite the village of Kanzem, surrounded by a park with rare trees. Family-owned since 1805, the estate was taken over by Günther Jauch and Dorothea Sihler-Jauch from their great-aunt in 2010. With an uncompromising commitment to quality, they have elevated it to the top ranks of German Riesling producers. Right outside the door: the south-facing Kanzemer Altenberg vineyard – one of Germany's greatest Grand Crus. Mineral intensity, delicate fruit spice, vineyard peach, ripe apples. Floral, balanced, magnificent.
