Wachtenburg Regent Pfalz dry
The Wachtenburg Regent from the Palatinate is a red wine with real character – and a fine example of what modern grape varieties can achieve. The Regent variety was specifically developed for robust health and full-bodied flavor, and in the hands of the Wachtenburg winemakers, it reveals its full potential.
In the glass, this wine presents itself as a deep ruby red, almost opaque – a color that makes an impression. On the palate, it is substantial and rich , with a noticeable tannin structure that lends it character and depth. Yet it never feels harsh, but rather velvety and inviting – almost southern European in character, with a warmth more commonly associated with Mediterranean wines.
The Wachtenburg winegrowers were not awarded the title of best Regent producer in 2018 without reason. This award reflects the consistent craftsmanship that has gone into every bottle.
- Goes perfectly with braised dishes, venison stew or aged cheese.
- An ideal companion for cool evenings with a good meal.
- Also very suitable as a gift for red wine enthusiasts.
If you like to drink off the beaten track when it comes to grape varieties, this Regent is just right for you.

The Wachtenburg Winzer eG cooperative from Wachenheim on the German Wine Route is one of the oldest winegrowers' cooperatives in the Palatinate region: founded in 1900 by 53 Palatinate winegrowers, it now represents the shared craft of 24 winegrowing families who cultivate 350 hectares together. It takes its name from the striking Wachtenburg castle ruins high above Wachenheim—a landmark that is literally reflected in the wines of this cooperative. The focus is on Riesling, but the range extends to over 13 white and 11 red grape varieties, catering to a wide variety of tastes. High-quality wine enjoyment at fair prices and careful stewardship of the vineyards—this is the shared philosophy that unites all these winegrowing families.
