Trentangeli Castel del Monte DOC

The Trentangeli is the younger brother of the renowned Bocca di Lupo — more accessible in style, but with the same high standards of craftsmanship from Apulia.

Castel del Monte DOC lies in the hinterland of Bari, on the limestone hills surrounding the Hohenstaufen castle rock. The Tormaresca winery, owned by the Antinori family, produces red wines here based on the regional grape variety Nero di Troia — a grape known for its dark fruit and firm tannins.

In the glass, the Trentangeli displays an intense ruby red. The nose offers blackberry, sour cherry, and a hint of clove. Ten months of barrel aging impart a delicate vanilla and smoky note without overpowering the fruit. On the palate, velvety tannins, medium body, and a spicy finish with good length.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Drinking window: now until 2027.
Goes well with leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled salsiccia or pecorino stagionato.
