Trentangeli Castel del Monte DOC

The Trentangeli is the younger brother of the renowned Bocca di Lupo — more accessible in style, but with the same artisanal standards from Apulia.

Castel del Monte DOC is located in the hinterland of Bari, on the limestone hills around the Staufen castle rock. The Tormaresca winery, backed by the Antinori family, produces red wines here based on the regional Nero di Troia grape variety — a grape known for dark fruit and firm tannins.

The Trentangeli shows an intense ruby red in the glass. On the nose, blackberry, sour cherry, and a hint of clove. 10 months of barrique aging lay a fine vanilla and smoke note underneath without masking the fruit. On the palate, velvety tannins, medium body, spicy finish with good length.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
Pairs with leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled salsiccia, or Pecorino stagionato.

Tormaresca

Founded in 1998 by the Antinori family, the Tormaresca winery is located in the Italian region of Apulia, near the town of San Pietro Vernotico. Tormaresca boasts two vineyards (Tenuta Bocca di Lupo and Masseria Maime), encompassing a total area of 348 hectares. The region is characterized by abundant sunshine and significant temperature variations between day and night. In addition to the vineyards, the estate also owns olive groves and grain fields. The vineyards are characterized by tuff soils, on which red and white grape varieties are cultivated, including Negroamaro, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Anglianico. Three million bottles of wine are produced here annually.
