Tormaresca Neprica Primitivo Puglia

Primitivo from Apulia can seem rustic — not this one. The Tormaresca Neprica shows what is possible when you cultivate and vinify the grape variety with care.

Tormaresca belongs to the Antinori family and manages two large estates in Apulia: Masseria Maime and Bocca di Lupo. The grapes for the Neprica come from this southern Italian terroir, where intense sun, red clay soils, and warm nights shape the Primitivo into its typical richness.

In the glass, it shows deep ruby red. On the nose, black cherry, candied plum, and a hint of licorice — fully ripe, but not overloaded. On the palate, soft tannins, medium body, a subtle spice in the finish. No intrusive heaviness, but a pleasant roundness that makes the wine uncomplicated to drink.

Serving suggestion: Serve between 16 and 18 °C. Pairs well with grilled lamb chops, pasta with ragù, aged Pecorino, or a summery barbecue evening.

Tormaresca

Founded in 1998 by the Antinori family, the Tormaresca winery is located in the Italian region of Apulia, near the town of San Pietro Vernotico. Tormaresca boasts two vineyards (Tenuta Bocca di Lupo and Masseria Maime), encompassing a total area of 348 hectares. The region is characterized by abundant sunshine and significant temperature variations between day and night. In addition to the vineyards, the estate also owns olive groves and grain fields. The vineyards are characterized by tuff soils, on which red and white grape varieties are cultivated, including Negroamaro, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Anglianico. Three million bottles of wine are produced here annually.
