Siebeneich Merlot Riserva

The Siebeneich Merlot Riserva shows how seriously South Tyrol takes international grape varieties: a dry, dense red wine with depth that has taken its time to develop before being released for sale as a Riserva.

The Kellerei Schreckbichl, better known as Colterenzio, is one of South Tyrol's renowned cooperative wineries, based in Girlan near Eppan. The vineyards around Siebeneich benefit from warm valley soils and cool nights due to their proximity to the mountains – ideal conditions for giving Merlot both structure and ripeness.

In the glass, you can expect dark berry fruits such as blackberry and black cherry, underpinned by a spicy note reminiscent of bay leaf and black pepper. On the palate, the wine is juicy and dense, with ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long, slightly earthy finish.

Serve it at 16 to 18 °C with braised beef roast, grilled rack of lamb, or aged mountain cheese. It also pairs well with a platter of South Tyrolean speck and hard cheese – a wine for a quiet evening at the table.
