Sella & Mosca Vermentino di Sardegna DOC

Sardinia's most famous winery and the grape variety that most clearly represents the island — the Vermentino di Sardegna from Sella & Mosca is an uncomplicated but characterful white wine for warm evenings.

Sella & Mosca has been cultivating around 500 hectares near Alghero in northwestern Sardinia since 1899 — one of the largest contiguous vineyards in Europe. The sandy, calcareous soils of Cala Viola and the strong sea breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea shape the style: fresh, saline, and direct.

Straw yellow in the glass with greenish reflections. The nose offers bright citrus fruit – lime, grapefruit – along with white blossoms and a delicate almond note. On the palate, it is light-bodied with lively acidity, a subtly bitter finish typical of Vermentino, which gives the wine its Mediterranean character.

Best served at 8–10 °C and drunk young — the fruit is freshest in the first one to two years.
It goes well with grilled calamari, fish soup, zucchini blossoms in tempura batter, or simply with focaccia with sea salt.

Sella & Mosca

The Italian winery Sella & Mosca was founded in 1899 by Emilio Sella and Edgardo Mosca. Located on the island of Sardinia, near the city of Alghero, it is now owned by the Campari Group. A total of 550 hectares of vineyards are used to cultivate grapes for the production of both white and red wines. The volcanic soils, combined with the local Mediterranean climate, provide perfect conditions for vine growth. Grape varieties used for red wine production include Connonau, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignano, and Merlot. Sella & Mosca's white wines are made from grape varieties such as Vermentino, Sauvignon Blanc, and Torbato.
