Medeus Sella & Mosca Cannonau di Sardegna

Medeus Cannonau di Sardegna from Sella & Mosca is a red wine for anyone who wants to experience Sardinian wine culture in its most expressive form. Once you understand what the island of Sardinia has to offer in terms of wine, you can't ignore the Cannonau grape – and Sella & Mosca is one of the wineries that have been cultivating this grape variety with the utmost care for decades.

In the glass, Medeus displays a deep, dark ruby red. The nose unfolds ripe plum fruit and subtle spice, underscored by a soft, integrated oak note – the result of two years of aging in Slovenian oak barrels. On the palate, it impresses with a velvety texture, rounded tannins, and a harmonious balance that lends it an elegant character despite its richness. The three-day cold maceration prior to fermentation ensures intense color and fine extraction without overpowering the fruit.

Medeus is an excellent match for:

  • Grilled lamb and game dishes
  • Hard-ripened cheeses such as Pecorino Sardo
  • Pasta with rich meat sauces
  • A long evening with good conversations and little more than a filled glass.

It is best served at around 17–18 °C, preferably decanted an hour before drinking.

Sella & Mosca

The Italian winery Sella & Mosca was founded in 1899 by Emilio Sella and Edgardo Mosca. Located on the island of Sardinia, near the city of Alghero, it is now owned by the Campari Group. A total of 550 hectares of vineyards are used to cultivate grapes for the production of both white and red wines. The volcanic soils, combined with the local Mediterranean climate, provide perfect conditions for vine growth. Grape varieties used for red wine production include Connonau, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignano, and Merlot. Sella & Mosca's white wines are made from grape varieties such as Vermentino, Sauvignon Blanc, and Torbato.
