Schäfer Fröhlich Weissburgunder S Bockenauer tr
The Pinot Blanc “S” from the Bockenauer Felseneck vineyard represents what makes Schäfer-Fröhlich stand out in the Nahe region: consistent work in the vineyard, extreme selection of the grapes and a feel for minerality.
Tim Fröhlich cultivates the steep slopes around Bockenau on porphyry and slate soils biodynamically — a terroir that lends the Pinot Blanc an unusual tension. The grapes for the "S" are rigorously selected; only healthy, fully ripe fruit makes it to the cellar.
In the glass, the wine displays ripe honeydew melon and white pear, underpinned by a subtle creaminess that hints at careful vinification. The palate is full and round, the acidity well-integrated yet present enough for length and freshness. A mineral note lingers on the finish—a nod to the porphyry terroir.
