Schäfer-Fröhlich Schlossböckelheim FELSENBERG Riesling dry GG

The Felsenberg vineyard in Schlossböckelheim is one of the great Riesling sites of the Nahe region—steep porphyry cliffs, deep weathered soils, and a microclimate with pronounced day-night temperature differences. Tim Schäfer-Fröhlich vinifies this Grand Cru with the precision for which the winery has been internationally renowned for years: spontaneous fermentation, extended aging in large oak barrels, and minimal intervention.

In the glass, the wine displays a clear, delicately juicy structure: grapefruit and ripe quince mingle with flint and smoky minerality, accompanied by a subtle herbal spice in the background. On the palate, pressure builds—the backbone is firm, the acidity precise and without harshness. The finish is long, salty, and herbaceous, with a depth that suggests significant aging potential. Drinking window: 2026–2038.

Pairs well with grilled sea bass with fennel, scallops in beurre blanc, or mature Comté cheese. Serving temperature: 11–13 °C. Allowing the wine to cellar for another one to two years will reward you with additional complexity.

Schäfer-Fröhlich

The Schäfer-Fröhlich winery originates in the picturesque Nahe Valley in Germany and boasts a long family tradition of winemaking. Since 1800, the Schäfer family has dedicated itself to cultivating grapevines and producing high-quality wines. Today, the winery is managed by Tim Fröhlich, who combines his ancestors' traditions with modern winemaking techniques. The estate stretches across the hills of the Nahe Valley and benefits from the region's unique climatic and geological conditions. The vineyards are primarily planted with Riesling and Pinot Noir grapes, which find ideal conditions here to produce wines of exceptional quality. The Schäfer-Fröhlich winery's portfolio comprises an impressive selection of wines that reflect the diversity and quality of the Nahe region. The Rieslings, in particular, are the winery's hallmark and are known for their elegance, freshness, and longevity. In addition, the winery also produces excellent Burgundy wines as well as other varieties that perfectly express the terroir and the winemaker's skill. At Schäfer-Fröhlich, quality is paramount. The winery relies on meticulous handwork in the vineyard and gentle processing of the grapes in the cellar to unlock the full potential of the wines. Winemaking is carried out using traditional methods and state-of-the-art viticultural techniques to produce wines of the highest quality and authenticity.
