Monzingen HALENBERG Riesling dry GG

Monzingen HALENBERG Riesling dry GG
Halenberg is one of the great Riesling vineyards of the Nahe region – and Schäfer-Fröhlich demonstrates why here. A wine with depth, grip, and an acidity structure that has plenty of time to develop.
The winery in Monzingen cultivates the steep slopes of the Halenberg vineyard on weathered melaphyre rock – an exceptional volcanic terroir that imparts a distinctive minerality to the Riesling. Tim Schäfer-Fröhlich is considered one of the most precise winemakers in the Nahe region; his Grand Cru wines are spontaneously fermented and aged for extended periods on the lees.
The nose offers ripe stone fruit, candied citrus peel, and a hint of herbs, underpinned by a subtle minerality. On the palate, juicy, slightly sweet fruit with nutty and herbal notes, and a touch of milk caramel and coffee in the background. The acidity is fine and lively, keeping the wine taut without being harsh. The finish is long, juicy, and characterized by a discreet spiciness.
