Bockenau Stromberg Riesling dry GG

Bockenau Stromberg Riesling dry GG
Pure slate, no compromise: The Bockenau Stromberg is one of the most precise wines from the Nahe winery Schäfer-Fröhlich — a Riesling that doesn't explain its origin, but shows it.
Tim Fröhlich cultivates the steep slopes around Bockenau in the northern Nahe Valley with a dedication typical of Germany's top wineries. The Stromberg vineyard is one of the estate's cooler, wind-exposed sites—grey slate, poor soil, and a long growing season. The result: wines with tension rather than breadth.
The nose offers aromas of wet asphalt after a summer rain, flint, and a hint of tomato leaves—this tart, mineral character carries through to the finish. On the palate, the wine reveals stone fruit, candied citrus peel, and a well-integrated extract sweetness that supports the body without being heavy. Lean, vibrant, precise—the finish is long and linearly mineral.
Recommendation: Serve at 10–12 °C with grilled sea bass with caper butter, scallops, or a mature goat cheese. Drinking window 2025–2033 — already approachable, but will gain significantly in depth with two to three years of cellaring.
