Schäfer-Fröhlich Schlossböckelheim FELSENBERG Riesling dry GG
The Felsenberg vineyard is one of the great Riesling sites of the Nahe region: a steep slope above Schlossböckelheim, weathered porphyry and slate rock, and subject to extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night. Tim Fröhlich of the Schäfer-Fröhlich winery vinifies this Grand Cru with the precision that has placed the estate among the top German Riesling producers for years — spontaneous fermentation, extended lees aging, and minimal intervention in the cellar.
In the glass, the Felsenberg GG displays a taut grapefruit aroma, underpinned by flint and fresh herbs. The palate is lean yet dense: a firm acidity that supports the wine without being harsh, and a saline minerality that lingers through to the long finish. This is not a wine for a quick gulp—it needs air and time in the glass.
Drinking window 2026–2035, serving temperature 10–12 °C . Pairs well with pike-perch fillet on beurre blanc, Breton oysters or a mature Comté cheese — anywhere acidity and saltiness are desired at the table.
