Rauenthaler Baiken Riesling Crescentia VDP first location

The Rauenthaler Baiken is one of the great Riesling sites of the Rheingau — stony, steep, characterized by volcanic Taunus quartzite. Kloster Eberbach, with roots in the 12th century, has been cultivating this site for centuries and vinifies it as a VDP Erste Lage with the ambition of bringing the character of the soil directly into the glass.

In the glass, the Crescentia shows a light yellow with slight gold reflections. The nose opens with citrus zest and ripe white peach, underpinned by a fine herbal spice and clear minerality. On the palate, the promise is confirmed: fully ripe yellow stone fruit, a present yet never sharp acidity, plus nutty hints and a subtle residual sweetness that gives depth without being cloying. The finish is long, permeated by fruity and clearly mineral nuances.
