Paul Mas Grande Reserve Chardonnay

Paul Mas Grande Reserve Chardonnay
A Chardonnay from the Languedoc that shows what southern France can do beyond rosé and Grenache: ripe fruit, artisanal barrel aging – and yet freshness.
Paul Mas cultivates several vineyards around Pézenas in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. For his Grande Réserve, the grapes are harvested at night – the lower temperatures preserve the aromatics and slow down oxidation after picking. The wine then matures for nine months in barrels, a 50/50 mix of American and French oak. The result: a smooth, rich texture without heaviness, and oak without overpowering influence.
In the glass, the wine shines a golden yellow. The nose offers aromas of ripe pear, toasted bread, and a hint of roasted almonds – classic hallmarks of a well-made, oak-aged Chardonnay. On the palate, vibrant citrus fruit adds tension to the creamy body, accompanied by floral notes on the finish.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C . Pairs well with chicken in cream sauce, seared scallops, or a gratin dauphinois. Also delicious on its own as an uncomplicated after-work wine.
