White Burgundy shell limestone

White Burgundy shell limestone
Pinot Blanc on shell limestone – that is a combination that stands for structure and mineral depth. Lergenmüller from the Palatinate brings exactly that into the bottle.
The Lergenmüller winery is one of the established addresses in the southern Palatinate, a region where shell limestone soils give Pinot Blanc a characteristic straightforwardness. The chalky rock soils promote fine minerality and keep the acidity lively – even in warm Palatinate vintages.
In the glass, the wine shows aromas of white peach and pear, plus a subtle nuttiness, as is typical for Pinot Blanc on calcareous ground. The palate is medium-weight, the acidity present without being angular, the finish dry and pleasantly long.
- Food pairing: Fried cod, asparagus dishes, creamy pasta with Parmesan or young fresh goat cheese
- Drinking temperature: 10–12 °C

The German winery with its headquarters in the Palatinate was founded in 1538 and is today managed under the leadership of Jürgen and Stefan Lergenmüller. With an area of 85 ha, it is one of the largest wineries in the Palatinate and produces up to 850,000 bottles of wine annually. At a total of four locations, the vines are supplied with sufficient minerals on soils made of limestone, loess and variegated sandstone. Controlled water supply and the many hours of sunshine in the Palatinate contribute to optimal growth. Lergenmüller's range includes white wines from grape varieties such as Chardonnay or Pinot Blanc and red wines from the Pinot Noir, Merlot and other varieties.
