Lafóa Chardonnay

The Lafóa Chardonnay is Kellerei Schreckbichl's answer to the question of what South Tyrolean Chardonnay can achieve when site and craftsmanship come together. A dry white wine with depth and structure that does not have to hide behind international role models.

Kellerei Schreckbichl, also known as Colterenzio, is based in Eppan on the South Tyrolean Wine Road. The vineyards are located on the sunny terraces between Lake Kaltern and the Bolzano basin, where warm days and cool nights give the grapes ripeness and freshness at the same time. The Lafóa stands for the house's premium line, named after a historical local name of the region.

In the glass, the Chardonnay shows notes of ripe pear, citrus peel, and a hint of toasted nut. On the palate, it appears creamy but not heavy, carried by a precise acidity that ensures length in the finish. A white wine with character that seeks concentration instead of loudness.

Serve it at 10 to 12 degrees with grilled fish, risotto with porcini mushrooms, or aged mountain cheese. It also cuts a fine figure solo as an aperitif for a quiet evening.
