Kavalan Rum Schlumberger Selection 50%vol Rum Cask-Taiwanese Whisky 0.7L

A Taiwanese single malt with rum cask maturation, bottled at 50% ABV. The Schlumberger Selection focuses on the cask notes of the rum and combines them with the fruity signature for which Kavalan is known.

Kavalan distills in Yilan on the northeast coast of Taiwan. The subtropical climate accelerates maturation in the cask and ensures whiskies of striking density. Here, the character comes from rum casks, which experience shows bring molasses, spices, and tropical fruits into play.

In the glass, you can therefore expect sweet, dark tones of molasses and spices, plus ripe tropical fruit, carried by a round, full texture. The 50% ABV gives the dram structure and length without making it heavy.

Recommendation: neat in a nosing glass, with a few drops of water to open up the fruit side. The whisky also comes into its own over a large ice cube. It is a distinctive base for long drinks and highballs with ginger beer.
