The Kavalan Solist Ex-Bourbon is a Taiwanese single malt at cask strength, bottled from a single cask. It is aimed at everyone who appreciates a whisky unadorned and with plenty of power in the glass.

Kavalan distills in Yilan in northeastern Taiwan. The subtropical climate shapes the maturation, and it is precisely this origin that makes the bottling unmistakable. The Solist matures in American white oak that previously housed bourbon. Each bottle bears its own serial number; the cask strength is between 50 and 60% vol, depending on the cask.

On the nose, tropical fruits, coconut, and vanilla appear, along with a hint of smoky wood. On the palate, natural sweetness combines with vanilla and oak structure. The texture remains soft and round, the finish long, fruity, and woody.

Neat, it shows its full depth. With a few drops of water, further layers often open up. Recommendation: neat or with a little water in a nosing glass, best on a quiet evening.
