The Kavalan Solist Peated is a Taiwanese single malt at cask strength that keeps peat smoke and tropical fruit in balance. It is a limited bottling for which Kavalan has used peated barley as the basis of distillation for the first time.

The distillery is located in Yilan in northeastern Taiwan and is one of the most famous names in Asian whisky. The Solist Peated is a single cask bottling at 52.4% ABV. The peat notes are clearly recognizable but leave room for the typical Kavalan fruitiness.

The nose reveals honey, toffee, beeswax, and coconut, along with tropical fruits. On the palate, toffee and butterscotch combine with earthy peatiness. The finish is long, with pepper and red chili providing the final accents.

Best enjoyed neat and with some time in the glass. A few drops of water open up the cask strength and bring the fruit further to the fore. A dram for all who appreciate smoke and fruit together.
