The Kavalan Solist Sherry is a Taiwanese single malt as a single-cask bottling at cask strength. It comes from Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, and this cask influence determines the character: dense, spicy, and deep.

Kavalan is located in northeastern Taiwan and is one of the best-known distilleries in Asia. Because every Solist bottling comes from a single cask, the strength differs from cask to cask; it lies between 50 and 60% vol. The whisky is bottled without dilution.

The nose shows nuts, savory spices, almonds, and vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and flowing, with dark fruit, sherry-typical sweetness, and a fine hint of coffee that gives the whisky structure. The aftertaste remains long, warm, and spicy.

Recommendation: Drink it neat in a nosing glass so that the cask influence comes through clearly. With a few drops of water, additional layers of fruit often open up. A whisky for anyone who appreciates sherry casks and cask strength.
