Kavalan Solist Fino 50-60% vol Cask Strength Taiwanese Whisky 0.7L

Fino sherry casks are rare in whisky maturation — they bring a dry, bright spice that differs significantly from the darker Oloroso or Pedro Ximénez casks. Kavalan from Yilan, Taiwan, uses exactly these casks for the Solist Fino: bottled individually, undiluted at cask strength between 50 and 60% ABV.

Since its founding in 2005, Kavalan has made a name for itself through Taiwan's subtropical climate — the high temperatures and humidity significantly accelerate the interaction between the distillate and the wood. In the Solist Fino, this is reflected in a profile that closely interweaves creamy sweetness and dry sherry spice. On the nose, dried apricot, light nougat, and a hint of almond — typical for Fino wood. On the palate, citrus zest, white chocolate, and fine salt notes follow, reminiscent of biological aging under flor. The finish is long, dry, and slightly nutty.

The Solist Fino unfolds its full aromatic profile best neat at room temperature — a few drops of still water open up the texture further. It makes a strong impression as a digestif after a good dinner.
