The Distillery Select No.1 is a Taiwanese single malt with 40% vol., fruity, soft, and uncomplicated in character. It is considered an accessible introduction to the Kavalan Distillery range.

Kavalan is located in northeastern Taiwan, in the Yilan region, and has given the country a firm place on the whisky map within a few years. The warm, subtropical climate shapes the house style: fruit-forward malts with plenty of expression.

On the nose, the whisky opens with honey, mango, and pear, along with vanilla, coconut, and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, the mango remains present, accompanied by warm wood notes and a fine orange freshness. The texture is soft and round, the finish fruity.

Recommendation: neat or with an ice cube if you want to emphasize the tropical fruit. It also works as a long drink with soda or ginger ale, and it is suitable as an introduction to Taiwanese whisky.
