Hermitage Rouge AC Hermitage

The Hermitage Rouge from E. Guigal stands for Syrah from the northern Rhône: dense, dark-fruited, and with a clear structure. A dry red wine that needs time in the glass and rewards it with complexity.

The Hermitage appellation is one of the best-known sites in the northern Rhône; Syrah is the defining grape variety here. E. Guigal is one of the great names in the region and has helped shape the style of Rhône wines for decades.

In the nose, there are ripe cassis fruits and plum, plus licorice, coffee, and dark chocolate with fine spice notes. On the palate, the wine appears juicy and dense, with dark berries, licorice, as well as a hint of vanilla and herbs. The tannins are fine-grained, the freshness remains balanced, and the finish is long and lively with fine acidity play.

Recommendation: Decant the wine before serving and pour at about 18 °C. It goes well with braised beef, rack of lamb with a herb crust, game dishes, or mature hard cheese.

E. Guigal

Maison Guigal – one of the most renowned addresses in the Rhône Valley. Founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal, in family hands for three generations. From Ampuis, in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie, Guigal focuses on precision and craftsmanship.

The crowning glory: the three legendary single-vineyard wines La Landonne, La Mouline, and La Turque – world-class Syrah wines. Each parcel vinified individually, partly aged in new barriques.

But Guigal is more: Hermitage, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Everywhere palpable: love for detail and terroir.
