Côte Rôtie La Turque AC Côte Rôtie

La Turque is one of the three single-vineyard bottlings from E. Guigal in the northern Rhône and shows how much power and finesse can be contained in a Syrah. The wine stands for the dark, spicy side of the Côte Rôtie appellation.

The La Turque vineyard is located on the Côte Brune, whose soils give the wine structure and depth. Guigal, founded in 1946 in Ampuis, is considered a defining house of the appellation. In La Turque, the power of the Côte Brune meets the finer line known from the neighboring Côte Blonde. The grape variety is Syrah, and the wine is dry.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red with dark reflections. On the nose, small red fruits, sour cherry, and blackberry mingle with powerful, spicy notes. It starts smoothly on the palate, combining softness with concentration and carrying finely drawn tannins. The aromatic intensity remains perceptible into the finish.

Recommendation: Rack of lamb with rosemary-honey jus, braised game, or beef, preferably with truffles. Decant the wine and serve it at 17–18 °C.

The Domaine

E. Guigal

Maison Guigal – one of the most renowned addresses in the Rhône Valley. Founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal, in family hands for three generations. From Ampuis, in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie, Guigal focuses on precision and craftsmanship.

The crowning glory: the three legendary single-vineyard wines La Landonne, La Mouline, and La Turque – world-class Syrah wines. Each parcel vinified individually, partly aged in new barriques.

But Guigal is more: Hermitage, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Everywhere palpable: love for detail and terroir.
