Saint-Joseph rouge Lieu-dit Saint-Joseph AOP 0.75L
A Syrah from the northern Rhône Valley that shows what the Saint-Joseph appellation can achieve in its best locations: depth without heaviness, spice without harshness.
Guigal is a well-established name in the Northern Rhône—the Ampuis-based winery has been renowned for decades for its meticulous work in the Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, and, of course, Saint-Joseph appellations. The Saint-Joseph lieu-maritime takes its name from the historic vineyard site that gave the entire appellation its name. A Syrah from here has character: the granite and mica schist soils impart a vibrant minerality that clearly distinguishes the wine from more opulent Syrahs from the south.
In the glass, the wine displays dark cherry, black olive, and violet, along with a typical northern Rhône profile featuring peppery spice and a hint of smoked meat. The tannins are present but supple, and the finish is long and spicy. A dry wine, it exhibits the characteristic tension between fruit and minerality typical of Syrah from Saint-Joseph.
Serving temperature 16–18 °C . Pairs well with leg of lamb with herbs de Provence, grilled beef steak, or a mature Ossau-Iraty. Those with a little patience will be rewarded with further bottle aging.

Maison Guigal – one of the most prestigious wineries in the Rhône Valley. Founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal, it has been family-owned for three generations. From Ampuis, in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie, Guigal focuses on precision and craftsmanship. The crowning achievement: the three legendary single-vineyard wines La Landonne, La Mouline, and La Turque – world-class Syrah wines. Each parcel is vinified individually, some aged in new barriques. But Guigal is more than that: Hermitage, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Everywhere you look, you'll find a passion for detail and for the terroir.
