Saint-Joseph Vigne de l'Hospice AC Saint-Joseph 0.75L
The Saint-Joseph Vigne de l'Hospice from E. Guigal is one of the quiet stars of the northern Rhône Valley — a Syrah that combines the cool spice of the steep granite sites with the depth of a great house.
E. Guigal has been the defining address of the northern Rhône for decades. The family stands for uncompromising quality standards from Côte-Rôtie to Saint-Joseph — an appellation that grows on narrow terraces above the river and gives Syrah on granite and gneiss an unmistakable mineral imprint. The Vigne de l'Hospice comes from a single site that is particularly close to the winery's heart.
In the glass, dark blackberry and black olive appear, plus violets and a hint of smoked meat — typical for Syrah on northern Rhône granite. The palate is medium-weight with lively acidity, firm but not edgy tannins, and a long, peppery-spicy finish with a subtle mineral note.
Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs well with leg of lamb with herbs of Provence, grilled duck breast, or a robust Reblochon. Those who decant it will be rewarded with more openness and depth.

Maison Guigal – one of the most prestigious wineries in the Rhône Valley. Founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal, it has been family-owned for three generations. From Ampuis, in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie, Guigal focuses on precision and craftsmanship. The crowning achievement: the three legendary single-vineyard wines La Landonne, La Mouline, and La Turque – world-class Syrah wines. Each parcel is vinified individually, some aged in new barriques. But Guigal is more than that: Hermitage, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Everywhere you look, you'll find a passion for detail and for the terroir.
