Côte Rôtie Brune et Blonde AC Côte-Rôtie

The Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde from E. Guigal stands for the Northern Rhône from its classic side: dark-fruited, spicy, and with plenty of pull on the palate. It combines two vineyards of the appellation in one cuvée.

The grapes grow on the steep slopes of the Côte Rôtie. The Côte Blonde provides soils with calcareous sandstone, while the Côte Brune has iron oxide-rich soils. The cuvée consists of 96% Syrah and 4% Viognier. E. Guigal is one of the most famous names in the Northern Rhône.

The glass reveals blackberry and plum, plus dried flowers, herbs, spices, and a hint of black olive. Oak wood and a mineral note lie subtly over it. On the palate, raspberry and blackberry are added, carried by balanced acidity and silky tannins. The finish is long and elegant.

Dry-aged, it pairs well with rack of lamb with a herb crust, braised beef, or aged hard cheese. Serve it at about 16 to 18 °C, preferably in a carafe.

E. Guigal

Maison Guigal – one of the most renowned addresses in the Rhône Valley. Founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal, in family hands for three generations. From Ampuis, in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie, Guigal focuses on precision and craftsmanship.

The crowning glory: the three legendary single-vineyard wines La Landonne, La Mouline, and La Turque – world-class Syrah wines. Each parcel vinified individually, partly aged in new barriques.

But Guigal is more: Hermitage, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Everywhere palpable: love for detail and terroir.
