Côte Rôtie La Landonne AC Côte Rôtie

La Landonne is the most powerful of the three Côte-Rôtie wines from E. Guigal: single-varietal Syrah from the northern Rhône Valley, dark, dense, and of great depth.

The La Landonne site is one of the famous single sites of the Côte Rôtie appellation, which Guigal has shaped as a family winery in Ampuis for decades. The AC Côte Rôtie bears the name, and the "roasted slope" refers to the steep, sun-exposed terraces above the Rhône.

In the glass, deep red with bluish reflections. On the nose, black fruits that are reminiscent of stewed or dried berries, along with marzipan, dark chocolate, and espresso. Mineral notes of wet stone and graphite as well as a balsamic facet give the wine structure. On the palate, dry, full-bodied, and concentrated, powerful in style and at the same time clear and pure in expression.

Pairs well with rack of lamb with rosemary-honey jus, braised or roasted game, and beef, especially with truffle. Serve it at 17–18 °C.
