Guado al Tasso Matarocchio Antinori

Guado al Tasso Matarocchio Antinori
Single-varietal Cabernet Franc from Bolgheri – that is rare, and the Matarocchio from Guado al Tasso shows why this grape variety deserves its place here.
The Guado al Tasso winery belongs to the Antinori family and is located in the heart of the Bolgheri DOC on the Tuscan coast. The Maremma soils of clay, sand, and gravel give the Cabernet Franc a mineral base that clearly distinguishes it from its Loire relatives.
The nose reveals plum and dark cherry, underpinned by mint, cocoa, and a hint of roasted coffee. On the palate, the tannins are silky yet dense – no harshness, but rather a calm structure that promises length. The finish returns to mint and dark chocolate, long and clean.
Great aging potential: Accessible now, but will reach its peak in five to eight years at the earliest. Serving temperature 17–18 °C.
- Roast lamb with herb crust
- Braised beef cheeks
- Mature Pecorino di Pienza
