Scalabrone Rosato Bolgheri DOC Magnum
Scalabrone Rosato Bolgheri DOC Magnum – Guado al Tasso
A rosé that doesn't do things by halves: The magnum bottle of Scalabrone is just the thing if you want to impress guests – or simply enjoy a good evening without having to refill your glass too often. Behind the name lies a piece of Tuscan folklore: A bandit nicknamed Scalabrone – the bumblebee – is said to have inspired this cuvée. Anyone who knows the wine knows: The name is fitting.
In the glass, it displays a deep, luminous pink hue that immediately piques the interest. The nose is expressive and fruity – ripe berries, a hint of rose, and the delicate blossom of hawthorn combine to create an inviting bouquet. On the palate, it delivers on the promise of the nose: full-bodied, balanced, with a fresh structure that keeps it vibrant despite its richness.
Guado al Tasso, the renowned Antinori family winery in the heart of Bolgheri, has for decades understood how to translate the potential of this unique coastal region into impressive wines. The Scalabrone is the approachable, sociable sibling of the estate's great red wines – but with its own distinct character and ambition.
- Served slightly chilled (approx. 10–12 °C), it develops its full aroma.
- Ideal with grilled fish, seafood, light pasta dishes or a summer antipasti buffet.
- The magnum bottle (1.5 l) matures more evenly and is ideal as a gift or centerpiece at a large dinner party.
Anyone who has previously dismissed rosé as a light category should give Scalabrone a chance – it is likely to change that perception permanently.
