Dreissigacker Vintages Red Dry

Two grape varieties, two vintages — Jochen Dreissigacker blends vintages and varieties in his Vintages Rot to create a wine that offers more depth than its price would suggest.

Dreissigacker from Bechtheim in Rheinhessen is one of the wineries that have redefined the region's style. Jochen Dreissigacker works meticulously in the vineyard and emphasizes restraint in the cellar—the result is wines with a clear profile rather than oak dominance.

In the glass, the Vintage displays a deep, dark color, driven by the high St. Laurent content. The nose opens with aromas of cassis, blackberry, and black cherry , accompanied by cedar, sandalwood, and toasted almond. On the palate, it is juicy and clearly structured: Morello cherry, cassis, dark chocolate, and Bourbon vanilla—a delicate extract sweetness that never feels heavy. Soft tannins, a long finish with spicy berries and a hint of cocoa.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Pairs well with leg of lamb with a herb crust , duck breast, mature cheddar cheese, or a hearty pot roast. Also enjoyable on its own as an evening wine.
