Dourthe II

A wine that unites two wine worlds in one bottle: Australian power meets Bordeaux structure – the result of a true collaboration between two houses with a long tradition.

Penfolds from the Barossa Valley is one of Australia's most famous wineries, founded in 1844 and known for powerful, ripe red wines with depth. Dourthe is an established Bordeaux house with roots in the Médoc. For this wine, both worked together: the French component was created at two Dourthe wineries in Bordeaux, the Australian one at the Penfolds Nuriootpa Winery in South Australia. Subsequently, both parts were united into the cuvée in South Australia and bottled.

On the nose, the Cabernet Shiraz shows dark berry fruit – blackberry, blackcurrant – with a hint of cedar wood and tobacco from the Bordeaux component. On the palate, the fleshy, fully ripe fruit of the Australian Shiraz combines with the tannic backbone structure of the Cabernet. The finish is long, spicy, with a light earthy note.
