I am 28 Kalimna Shiraz

Penfolds Bin 28 is the prime example of an Australian Shiraz, vinified from grapes that were able to ripen in pleasant warmth, robust, with opulent, juicy aromas and without dominant new oak or excessive alcohol levels. Kalimna is the name of the Shiraz first vinified in 1962, named after the famous vineyard in the Barossa Valley, which Penfolds acquired in 1945 and from whose grapes the wine was originally prepared exclusively. Today, Bin 28 is a true Penfolds multi-regional, multi-vineyard blend, a wine therefore from vines from different regions and vineyards, with clearly defined, ripe fruit in its youth, concentration, distinct fruit sweetness and only minimal wood influence.

The wine matured for 12 months in already multi-used American oak barrels.

Fragrance: opens with lush, warm-spicy Shiraz aromas of (somewhat Christmas-like) cloves, cinnamon, coriander, juicy plums and cherries; later, licorice and fine vanilla are also perceptible. Taste: full-bodied with medium body and juicy aromas of plums, cherries and berries, which mix with notes of dark chocolate, mocha and spices.
