Gattera Barolo DOCG

A Barolo from one of the oldest single vineyards in La Morra: The Gattera is located in La Morra on calcareous soils that give the Nebbiolo its characteristic combination of fruit and structure.

The Cordero di Montezemolo winery has been cultivating this site for generations and relies on French barriques instead of the classic large wooden barrels of Piedmont — 19 to 21 months of aging that open up the wine and make it accessible without breaking its core.

On the nose, ripe black cherry appears alongside licorice and a hint of camphor — typical for Nebbiolo from La Morra. On the palate, warm and fully ripe, with a silky texture and persistent tannin that carries long without biting. The finish remains mineral and long.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs with braised beef, game ragù over pappardelle, or mature Pecorino — classic Piedmontese cuisine goes without saying.

Cordero di Montezemolo

The history of the Italian winery Cordero di Montezemolo dates back to 1340 when it was founded by Pietrino Falletti. Now in its 19th generation, it is owned by Giovanni Cordero di Montezemolo and his wife. Located in the Piedmont region, the winery originally cultivated 28 hectares of vineyards, which has since been expanded to 38 hectares through further investment. Among the grape varieties cultivated by Cordero di Montezemolo are Barbera, Chardonnay, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, and Arneis.
