Elioro Chardonnay Langhe DOC

A Chardonnay from Piedmont that combines the best of two worlds: the Burgundian tradition of oak barrel aging and the brightness of northern Italian mountain sites.

Cordero di Montezemolo is one of the most famous wineries in the Langhe – primarily known for Barolo, but the family from La Morra also demonstrates clear craftsmanship with Chardonnay. The Langhe DOC allows international grape varieties outside the strict Barolo and Barbaresco zones; this is where white wines with real character are created.

After 9 to 10 months of aging in oak barrels, the Elioro shows ripe citrus fruit, grapefruit, and a hint of banana on the nose – complemented by the typical vanilla note of the barrel. On the palate, it feels full and dense without losing its freshness: a lively acid structure carries the wine into a long, slightly buttery finish.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs well with risotto with porcini mushrooms, pan-fried salmon trout, aged Pecorino, or a creamy pasta dish with sage butter.

Cordero di Montezemolo

The history of the Italian winery Cordero di Montezemolo dates back to 1340 when it was founded by Pietrino Falletti. Now in its 19th generation, it is owned by Giovanni Cordero di Montezemolo and his wife. Located in the Piedmont region, the winery originally cultivated 28 hectares of vineyards, which has since been expanded to 38 hectares through further investment. Among the grape varieties cultivated by Cordero di Montezemolo are Barbera, Chardonnay, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, and Arneis.
