Capellania Rioja Reserva Blanco

Capellania Rioja Reserva Blanco
Capellania is one of the few white wines from Rioja that is consistently aged in barriques — a tradition that Marqués de Murrieta has cultivated for decades and which can be experienced here in its purest form.
The winery is one of the oldest and most renowned in the region: founded in 1852, it now owns approximately 300 hectares of land surrounding Ygay Castle near Logroño. The Capellania comes exclusively from the single vineyard of the same name and is made from Viura grapes—the classic white grape variety of Rioja. Fermentation and aging take place in oak barrels, followed by a Reserva aging period that gives the wine its characteristic depth.
In the glass, it displays a deep golden yellow. The nose offers ripe quince, yellow peach, and citrus peel, underpinned by vanilla and a hint of cedar from barrel aging. On the palate, it is present but not heavy: the acidity keeps the wine lively, the oak is well-integrated, and the finish is long and slightly spicy.
