Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Gran Reserva

Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Gran Reserva
A Rioja Gran Reserva with a genuine barnyard aroma: structured, woody, long-lasting — and surprisingly affordable.
Marqués de Murrieta is one of the oldest wineries in Rioja, founded in 1852 by Luciano de Murrieta, a pioneer of modern Rioja winemaking. The estate, surrounding Castillo Ygay near Logroño, comprises over 300 hectares of vineyards—a rarity in the region. The vineyards lie on calcareous clay and loam soils, which contribute to the winery's characteristic structure and minerality. Gran Reserva here signifies a minimum of five years of aging, two of which must be in oak barrels.
In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color with a garnet rim. The nose offers aromas of dried cherry, leather, and tobacco, underpinned by vanilla and cedar from barrel aging. On the palate, dense but already well-integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish with a hint of dried fig.
Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Best enjoyed now until 2030. Pairs well with leg of lamb with rosemary , Ibérico ham, or aged Manchego cheese.
Marqués de Murrieta embodies the classic Rioja magic with elegance and timeless class. From the heart of Spain come wines that exude tradition and maturity – like a walk through sun-drenched vineyards that tell stories.
In the glass, they delight with complex fruit , delicate vanilla notes, and a velvety texture. Typical Rioja: ripe, balanced, and full of depth that unfolds slowly. Here you'll find wines that make every moment special.
Perfect for connoisseurs who appreciate Spanish classics with character and warmth. A name synonymous with quality and enjoyment.
