Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Reserva 1.5L

The Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Reserva in the 1.5-liter magnum combines the classic style of the Rioja Alta with the signature of one of Spain's oldest wineries — structured, aromatically multi-layered, and with the weight that a large bottle brings with it.

The bodega was founded in 1852 and is thus one of the pioneers of modern Rioja. Since 1983, it has belonged to the Counts of Creixell; today, Vicente Dalmau Cebrián-Sagarriga manages the estate near Logroño in the second generation. Oenologist María Vargas is responsible for the cellar work and shapes the style: finesse-rich, precise, with a clear reference to the house's tradition.

In the glass, the Reserva shows aromas of raspberry, blueberry, and ripe cherry, underscored by thyme, rosemary, and a hint of sandalwood. Fine-grained tannins carry the juicy-fruity profile, the acidity remains fresh without sharpness, the finish straightforward and long. The magnum bottle slows down maturation — those who bring patience will be rewarded with additional depth.

Best served at 16–18 °C, it pairs with braised rack of lamb, chorizo stew, or mature Manchego.
