Capellania Rioja Reserva Blanco

Capellania Rioja Reserva Blanco
The Capellania is one of the few white wines of Rioja that is consistently aged in barriques — a tradition that Marqués de Murrieta has cultivated for decades and which can be experienced here in its purest form.
The winery is one of the oldest and most famous in the region: founded in 1852, today around 300 hectares of own property around the Ygay castle near Logroño. The Capellania comes exclusively from the single vineyard of the same name and is vinified from Viura — the classic white wine variety of Rioja. Fermentation and aging take place in oak wood, followed by a Reserva aging period that gives the wine its characteristic depth.
In the glass, it shows deep golden yellow. In the nose, ripe quince, yellow peach, and citrus peel, underscored by vanilla and a hint of cedar wood from the barrel aging. On the palate, present but not heavy: the acidity keeps the wine lively, the wood is integrated, the finish long and slightly spicy.
- Temperature: 12–14 °C
- Food: Fried cod with saffron sauce, chicken in white wine sauce, aged Manchego, or creamy pasta with mushrooms
