Boschendal The Rosé Garden

Boschendal The Rosé Garden
A rosé from Franschhoek in South Africa that delivers exactly what its salmon-pink color promises: light, fruity, and easy to drink.
Boschendal is one of the oldest wine estates in South Africa – founded in 1685 in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley, surrounded by the foothills of the Drakenstein Mountains. The estate combines Huguenot winemaking tradition with modern cellar techniques and is now one of the most renowned wineries in the Cape region.
In the glass, it displays a clear salmon pink color. After two hours of skin contact and subsequent cooling in stainless steel tanks, fresh aromas of strawberry, raspberry , and a hint of rose petal develop. On the palate, it is light-bodied with moderate acidity and a short, clean finish – semi-dry in character, without being heavy.
- Food: Summer barbecue evening, light pasta with tomatoes and basil, goat cheese salad or grilled shrimp
- Temperature: 8–10 °C
- Occasion: Aperitif, picnic, sunny evening on the balcony

In 1685, Jean Le Long founded the Boschendal winery in South Africa. The name translates to "forest and valley," aptly describing the region 60 kilometers east of Cape Town where the winery is located. The winemakers cultivate a total of 350 hectares of vineyards, spread across altitudes ranging from 120 to 350 meters, allowing different wines to be grown under the optimal conditions for each. Boschendal's vineyards are characterized by clay soils and the so-called Tukuli soils, on which white and red grape varieties are grown for both classic wines and sparkling wines. In the winery's modern cellars, 2.88 million bottles of wine are bottled annually.
