Boschendal Rachelsfontein Chenin Blanc
Boschendal was the first winery in South Africa to ferment Chenin Blanc grapes in French oak barrels. The experiment was a success, resulting in a fruity, well-balanced, and full-bodied Rachel's Chenin Blanc with fruity aromas of nuts and honey. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a constant temperature of 15 degrees Celsius, with 10% of the wine fermenting in older French oak barrels. After fermentation, the wine rests on its lees and is stirred regularly before bottling.

In 1685, Jean Le Long founded the Boschendal winery in South Africa. The name translates to "forest and valley," aptly describing the region 60 kilometers east of Cape Town where the winery is located. The winemakers cultivate a total of 350 hectares of vineyards, spread across altitudes ranging from 120 to 350 meters, allowing different wines to be grown under the optimal conditions for each. Boschendal's vineyards are characterized by clay soils and the so-called Tukuli soils, on which white and red grape varieties are grown for both classic wines and sparkling wines. In the winery's modern cellars, 2.88 million bottles of wine are bottled annually.
