Boschendal Nicolas
Boschendal Nicolas is a robust red wine from the Franschhoek Valley – one of South Africa's most historically significant wine regions, shaped by Huguenot heritage and Atlantic breezes from nearby Cape Horn.
Boschendal is one of the oldest wineries in the Cape region, founded in 1685. Today, the estate cultivates around 400 hectares of vineyards in Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. The Nicolas wine bears its name as a tribute to the Huguenot founders and represents the estate's classic, full-bodied style: 16 months of aging in barriques, carefully selected from the best parcels.
In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color. The nose offers plum and black cherry, underpinned by mocha, a hint of vanilla, and light cedar wood. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with well-integrated tannins and a rounded acidity. The finish is long and spicy, with a touch of dark chocolate.
Serving suggestion: Serve at 16–18 °C. Pairs well with braised lamb shoulder, sirloin steak, or strong hard cheeses like Manchego. Best enjoyed now until 2028.
