Boschendal Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon

Boschendal Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon
A Cabernet Sauvignon from the Helderberg – one of the most renowned sites in the Stellenbosch region, where cool sea breezes from the Atlantic slow down ripening and condense the aromatic structure.
Boschendal is one of the oldest wineries in South Africa, founded in 1685 in the Franschhoek Valley. Today, the estate manages vineyards in several key locations of the Western Cape – including the Helderberg slopes in Stellenbosch, where the combination of granite soils and Atlantic influence is considered an ideal foundation for long-lived red wines.
In the glass, this Cabernet Sauvignon shows dark cassis and blackberry, underscored by cedar wood and a hint of dark chocolate. The palate is densely structured, with firmly integrated tannins and a fresh line of acidity that gives the wine contour and length. The finish is persistent, with spicy notes of black pepper and tobacco.
With potential for further development in the cellar. Serving temperature 17–18 °C. At the table, it pairs well with leg of lamb with rosemary, a hearty roast beef, or aged hard cheese like Manchego.

In 1685, Jean Le Long founded the Boschendal winery in South Africa. The name translates to "forest and valley," aptly describing the region 60 kilometers east of Cape Town where the winery is located. The winemakers cultivate a total of 350 hectares of vineyards, spread across altitudes ranging from 120 to 350 meters, allowing different wines to be grown under the optimal conditions for each. Boschendal's vineyards are characterized by clay soils and the so-called Tukuli soils, on which white and red grape varieties are grown for both classic wines and sparkling wines. In the winery's modern cellars, 2.88 million bottles of wine are bottled annually.
